Song Lyric Sunday 7/30/17 – Blue (Da Ba Dee)

Our prompt this week for Song Lyric Sunday is to post a song about colors. This is one that didn’t even need any thought for me because this song was my fucking jam back in middle school.

If you could describe my life in a color, that would be blue. My aura is blue, I’m a water sign (Pisces – officially branded as such on my right shoulder!) and I kind of have a soft-spoken demeanor like that of a blue ocean. That combined with my life-long battle with clinical depression makes blue the perfect color to describe me.

With that, let’s all flash back to 1999 when Eiffel 65 came out with this classic smash hit. Written by band frontman Jeffrey Jey along with Maurizio Lobina andΒ Massimo Gabutti, this one is sure to bring back memories so get ready for a trip down memory lane as you listen to “Blue (Da Ba Dee).” I’m posting two clips here – one is the full version of the song, the other is the official music video which although it is a cool video it truncates the song.

Official video:

Yo, listen up! Here is the story
About a little guy that lives in a blue world
And all day and all night and everything he sees
Is just blue like him, inside and outside
Blue his house, with the blue little window
And a blue Corvette, and everything is blue for him
And himself, and everybody around
‘Cause he ain’t got nobody to listen to (to listen to, to listen to…)

I’m blue
Da ba dee da ba di
Da ba dee da ba di
Da ba dee da ba di
Da ba dee da ba di
Da ba dee da ba di

I’m blue

I have a blue house with a blue window
Blue is the color of all that I wear
Blue are the streets and all the trees are too
I have a girlfriend, and she is so blue
Blue are the people here that walk around
Blue like my Corvette, it’s sitting outside
Blue are the words I say and what I think
Blue are the feelings that live inside me

I’m blue
Da ba dee da ba di
Da ba dee da ba di
Da ba dee da ba di

Man, hard to believe this song is old enough to drink in its originating country. Was it really THAT long ago? Man, that makes me want to cry almost! Well whatever, this song is sure to be a dance club classic if it isn’t already. So catchy and iconic.

And that’s a wrap for this week. Probably not exactly what anyone else though of for the theme, but that’s OK. Hope you enjoyed.

  1. Yassss! It’s crazy how songs from the nineties are so old! Haha. I’m only just starting to realize that 41 years is a long damn time. Great song! I’d completely forgotten about it, so thanks for the reminder! πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‰

  2. I’m almost positive I’ve heard this one, before. The little video is so fun to watch, too. Thanks for posting the song, and now I’ll be tapping my feet, and bopping my head all day! Fun! πŸ™‚
